It's rainy and cold, so here is a pic that I have saved:

Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima), named for the genus it belongs to: A̶l̶y̶s̶s̶u̶m̶ Lobularia

Huh...that's weird. They must have reclassified it.

These two Asian Lady Beetles (Harmonia axyridis) are just hanging out on this leaf here...

This little Phaon Crescent (Phyciodes phaon) was hanging out in the weeds. I think probably trying to stay out of the cold. Don't worry, I put them back unharmed.

I found this cute little guy today. This is a broad-tipped conehead (Neoconocephalus triops).

This is just Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) but I wanted to show how deep some of these root systems can go. (Glove for scale)

Iris giganticaerulea, or Giant Blue Iris. Native to parts of North America, it's common along the gulf coast. The colors range from pale blue, all the way to lavender or violet. It is a rhizomatous perennial (meaning that it primarily spreads by a tuber system, and lives longer than a single year).
