what irks me is when the artist is harassed for not explicitly stating consent in their art. If an artist wants to do that — ok that’s great!

but fictional charas are NOT REAL. they aren’t even able to “consent” to consensual acts?? also sorry puritans but noncon and dubcon fantasies also exist!

if you’re not able to separate your feelings from scenarios that fictional characters are in — to the point of harassing artists/writers, I say this with all seriousness, seek counseling. There are amazing therapists out there that specialize specifically in sex, sexual identity, trauma, kink etc.

art is a place for self-expression. a lot of people create characters in “taboo” scenarios because it allows them to explore these ideas safely

it might be able something that allows them to explore or heal their own sexuality, it might allow them to take back something that was taken from them

it’s fine to have your own opinions of what you like and don’t like, but it’s not cool to make others feel bad for what they like

Although I say “all ships are good ships” I used to be anti-certain ships or characters so much to avoid any art or artist making them.

This was NOT cool and I sincerely am sorry for making anyone feel alienated or like I was distancing myself from them because they liked that ship or character 😔
