People should educate themselves and use learning from recent protests to inform risk assessment of current tools in use by LE & effective tactical resistance.

Contact with the skin is possible even when people attempt to avoid it as these canisters are often throw directly towards protestors.

CS And Human Skin
Burning CS munitions can cause burns on human skin. The majority of the cases described in medical literature are from
actual direct contact with burning grenades or projectiles. This is
understandable, given the temperatures discussed above.
CS particles will be hot enough to cause thermal burns for some period of time,
particularly close to the actual point of discharge. Both the smoke from burning fillers and the temporarily vaporised CS emitted from a burning grenade will be hot enough to cause burns. For example, persons using oven mitts or other improvised techniques to pick up burning CS grenades can easily be exposed to CS particles and vapours hot enough to burn skin.

This happened in Scotland. Smoking ban in public spaces + vape availability made it quite rare to see people smoking cigarettes now (though at opposite end of UK in London it’s still rife to see). But bright colours, fruity flavours, abundant availability of vapes in stores = young people magnet

You can get high heat resistant gloves. If you plan to be front-line at protests chat to local fire crew, welders, industrial bakers etc. for tried & tested product recommendations, available in your region.

Exactly and they thought they would be arresting gang members. I’m sure some will take pleasure hurting women & children but for many of them party protesting is tainting the fantasy and reward they expected to get from this.

Agree more people are more aware of things they can lose. Remain played the better game with loss aversion last time & the focus on oil (unstable, finite) was not a strong vision of future.

Loss aversion coupled with a realistic tangible vision of future (even if its a slow grow) needed.

We have to work on status quo bias, particularly in those who aren’t feeling any specific financial suffering or oppression as right wing rises.

In the US they didn’t realise the difference between what they thought status quo was (as it was 2 yrs ago) & what it really was now (more right wing)

As noted in our Surveillance Self-Defense guide for protesters, the best way to protect yourself from a cell-site simulator is to put your phone in airplane mode, and disable GPS[2], wifi, and Bluetooth, as well as cellular data. (While GPS is "receive only" and does not leak any location information on its own, many apps track GPS location data, which ends up in databases law enforcement can search later.)
