Somehow, I turned into a clay figure. Big head. Tiny laptop. Forever mid-sentence. More Poppy than Pingu. Weirdly it taught me something I needed to know about writing: shaping lumps until they resemble something true.

Being set in a medieval castle, The Knight Errors doesn't have cups as such - but it does have anthropomorphic tankards playing industrial rock music. Which is nice.

The rocking tankards jumped down, and one of them launched into a frenzied guitar solo that sounded a lot like Jesus Built My Hot Rod while the other trashed the Monopoly game, kicking over castles and knocking down the playing pieces.
‘Step forward, ye of questionable knighthood!’ One of the tankard brothers spoke with the gravitas of an epic movie trailer. Slightly bemused, Phil shuffled forward as much as he could.
‘Good Sir Knight,’ it went on, while its brother strummed a Nine Inch Nails instrumental in the background. ‘Art thou here to trade, or wouldst thou partake in a challenge?’
Phil briefly contemplated the contents of the Bryonetta’s handbag, but the only thing in there that didn't serve a purpose was a tattered Orwell novel, and somehow offending a pair of anarchic anti-Disney beer mugs seemed like a potentially bad idea at the moment.
‘I have little of value to such noble persons as yourselves.’ Phil hoped he didn't sound too sycophantic, and tried to inject a little heroism into his speech. ‘Forsooth, I will take on any challenge whose reward may help on my quest.’
‘Who is this guy?’ one of the tankards whispered.
The other gave a little shimmy that probably denoted a shrug. ‘Someone who still says forsooth, apparently.’
