Fecking hell, Dublin flight landed 45 mins late and we sprinted to the bus queue. Made it just in time, the driver was contemplating selling our seats on the sold out coach to a line of hopefuls. Tragic that we can’t get a Guinness en route…but there’s an entire weekend for that 🍻 #GuinnessCorkJazz
Made it to Amsterdam and got a day to explore Haarlem and my cousin’s new digs until tonight’s flight to Cork was cancelled due to extreme winds and we found ourselves rushing to a much earlier flight to Dublin! Next stop: #GuinnessCorkJazz (by coach)
Book 44 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Katabasis”

A fun vision of hell based on numerous different cultures / sources / eras. A unique implementation of magic, an enemies-to-lovers romance, a bit of adventure, a classic narcissist, and a lot of very interesting lost souls.

Book 43 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The Wager”

A really remarkably written book that maintains the integrity of a meticulously researched piece, while maintaining readability for a general audience. I truly learned a lot.

Book 42 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Shit, Actually”

A bit of silly fun for the ‘90s and ‘00s cinephile, the audiobook is narrated by the author which really brought it to life. Thanks for the recommendation, Jillian!

Book 41 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The House Witch 3”

Eh? It just doesn’t pop like the others in the series did. Too many of the jokes feel recycled and forced, like they wouldn’t be funny without a laugh track.

Book 40 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Trust”

A work of craft! Gorgeous, layered storytelling through that reads like the works of 4 different authors. But it wasn’t that fun to read. Not sure I’d generally recommend it.

Book 39 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The Song of Achilles”

On the surface it’s the Iliad told from the perspective of Achilles’ partner and companion…but the author has breathed so much life into their story, added so much depth and nuance, that she’s created something new.

Book 38 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Murder by Memory”

OMG this is my new favorite series! A sapphic Becky Chambers meets Miss Marple mash-up with great characters, a remarkably interesting premise, a well-crafted mystery, and mesmerizing storytelling?!?! Yes, please!

Book 37 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The Last Murder at the End of the World”

Another mind-bender of a book cast in the mold of a locked room murder mystery. A lot of characters but it all comes together in the end. Would make a great vacation read!

Have you read any of the others in the series? Is it worth continuing?
The big question now is…when is #BeatSaber getting the #KPopDemonHunters soundtrack…
Book 36 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Medicus”

A murder mystery set in ancient Roman occupied Britain…but feeling very contemporary. I didn’t vibe with the main character enough to continue the series, but it’s a well-crafted cozy that was an easy and fast read.

#GirlsNightIn with my old college roomies up from Portland. We watched “Sleepless in Seattle” and “Crazy Stupid Love”, ate pizza, drank wine, snuggled my dying kitten, talked endlessly and kinda had a perfect night! It was the best distraction ever to Groo being on his last legs.

#CatsofBluesky
Today, home with a sick kitty, I started watching #GreysAnatomy for the first time…what have I done?!?!?
Book 35 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The Pursuit of Love”

A ridiculous, rollicking good time filled with brilliant characters whose antics are described with a wit that rivals Jane Austen.

Book 34 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Consider Phlebas”

Another book with an obscure literary title that I had to google. Still: a solid read, I see why it’s a classic! It’s a really refreshing take on AI embedded culture where the robots aren’t actually the bad guys.

Book 33 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “The Bear”

I put this in the same category as “The Alchemist”: A slightly woo woo book that everyone seems to love but just didn’t resonate with me. It’s fine? It just wasn’t for me.

The nature stuff was MESMERIZING. I never expected to get sucked in this much!
Book 32 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “He Who Fights With Monsters 3”

A great 3rd book from a structure and story arc perspective, but it needed editing. It’s essentially a 15 hr RPG training montage with some fun bits thrown in and a 3 hr epilogue. It just wasn’t for me.

Book #31 of #The52BookClub #The52BookClub2025 “Prodigal Summer”

There’s an unexpected amount of science that was SO interesting I was captivated! Highly recommend!

Have you ever dropped a mad movie reference in conversation and gotten crickets in return? When that happens to us, we add the title to a list that we use to plan #MovieNight.

Tonight’s epic was the ‘04 classic #EuroTrip and now my husband understands what Scotty doesn’t know. 🤣🍿🎬
Still my favorite ‘90s mashup:

Pack it up, pack it in, let me begin.
Girls, what’s your weakness? Men!

#Mashup
Ha! I get it! It’s not a perfect book…but maaan did I devour it when I read it.
