Guess whaaat you can save posts on bluesky now. Idk when this change was made. For all I know I'm late to
the game

WOW. Plus I have several friends who already prepped for their application. So upsetting. Do you know if people already awarded will lose it early?
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
Is this different from their usual exclusion? Eg people in clinical psych programs could apply, it just needed to be non therapy focused and submitted under another area eg developmental?
So now anyone in clinical psych can't apply at all?
(Genuinely clarifying, information overload at the moment!)

I don’t post much here, but I’m so thankful for the Yale UPLiFT Lab.. their radical genuineness, opportunity, support, and community have shaped my growth and perseverance. It was an honor to be invited to speak about research at Yale’s recent Psychology Systems event.

I go on long mindfulness walks almost every day. Today, a lady who lives off the trail gave me sunflowers from her garden. She said she see's me stop along the trail to look at her flowers sometimes.

Random act of kindness almost brought me to tears on a hard (but skillful) day.

Or when people get mad when LGBTQ+ mental health is talked about because "ALL people have mental health!" Or "what about OTHER minorities too??" 🙄 We can't even talk about legitimate things anymore without some ppl acting like we need to write a whole book about every possible related issue lol
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
Very thoughtful point! Yes indeed. I also think on a fundamental level it's an issue with someone's line of thinking. It's like not being able to hold a suicide prevention fundraiser without someone getting mad about it because there's "other issues TOO!"

wat
Can we like not be that way
Ok last post, I'm good lol

"We are talking about stigma with BPD for this paper because xyz." *proceeds with citations, examples, quotes"

Reviewer:
"But what about other disorders? Depression is stigmatized too! Why don't you talk about that! Also these examples are probably just misinterpretations"

6) if we don't give enough examples, they claim it didn't actually happen and doesn't actually happen. If we do, with direct quotes and plenty of evidence, they STILL claim it doesn't actually happen. Something tells me the problem isn't lack of "evidence"
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
5) why are we talking about PD stigma when other disorders are also stigmatized? We literally talked about that.
Why did you give examples of stigma when it doesn't seem like something they would actually say so you must have just have just misunderstood or misrepresented :)
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
4) They also pulled one of these out somehow too??? Yall im tired. I hate poor critical thinking mixed with condescending tones and some laziness disguised as "academic rigor." Something tells me you don't get responses like this as frequently when you're in other lines of work.
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
3) true and too bold of a claim to be making.
This field sometimes, I swear. not to mention, I'm a trainee and I have no mentorship aside from several collaborations I do. So it's harder to figure out next steps and handling it. The dynamics when you're in this role IS different.
kellyannnavarre.bsky.social
2) The latest example involves a reviewer trying to tell us that several stigmatizing examples that we cited, word for a word from sources, didn't really exist or "must have been" misrepresented and out of context because it was "too unethical" to be

1) Studying something like BPD, personality disorders, w other focuses on stigma too is hard bc literally no matter what you do, sometimes people get offended, fail to see the relevance of pd work, & then take it out on you, and it's way harder to get your work out there.

WHAT A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE THE STOP SKILL! THANK YOU! I am ice ice baby

2) I couldn’t be more grateful or excited. My return to campus was emotional, filled with paperwork, a warm welcome, conversations with people who actually care about me & have long been part of my path, & the surreal feeling of stepping back into the place where it all began.

1) Life update! This fall, I’m thrilled to take on the role of Adjunct Psychology Professor! Returning to where my academic journey began, Michigan’s Monroe County Community College. The place & people who once helped me piece myself together are welcoming me back once more, full-circle.🎉🐺

I've heard "you're over qualified" so many times over the past 1-2 years that I'm starting to wonder if any of them ever considered how, as a visibly disabled, AFAB genderqueer, Deaf/HoH person etc, I've always had to be overqualified in life just to be given the slightest chance at ANYTHING.

I have the best friends and community ever. I am so beyond overwhelmed with support, connection, and gratitude as I learn to live my life again.
I love everyone who’s chosen to walk with me in this life, in any way, at any time, in their own way. Especially now, as I find my way back.
