The following is a statement from the WGAE marking one year of bargaining at CBSNews.com. Fair contract now!
"I walked into the building, I was met by a gentlemen ... and told him that I wanted to join. And he said 'The VFW is for veterans.' He couldn't believe that I was a veteran, just the same as he was."

What veteran Army nurses say about their experiences serving in Vietnam
About 7,000 U.S. women served overseas as nurses during the Vietnam War. These veterans are working to ensure their contributions are honored on Veterans Day 2024.

After J.J. Machnik was diagnosed with a heart condition that can cause sudden cardiac arrest, he made sure his friends knew how to do CPR. That saved his life when he collapsed last month.

"They gave him the best chance to survive," his doctor said....
Beth Leavel performing Could I Leave You is the only appropriate consolation prize for Lempicka's closure
(If there were ever a time to restore the Perfection lyrics from the 2022 recordings!)
Like, sorry, I should get to watch both Rachel McAdams and Eden Espinosa give tour de forces!
Went to buy Lempicka closing tickets only to realize I already have Mary Jane tickets for the same time?? Truly cruel
and what if my workout playlist was just Good Luck, Babe! and the Challengers score
it is 70° in New York, there are two books, a loaf of bread, and a bouquet of flowers in my tote bag, this is what it's all about
Also open to teens who want to share personal experiences with these drills! Again, my DMs are open.
#journorequest: I'm working on a story for @CBSNews and would love to talk to the parents/families of children who have dealt with realistic school shooting drills in the classroom. If your child has experienced this and you'd like to share your experience, please DM me!
I don't know that I'll read quite as many books in 2024, but the new goal is to try to read all of the works of Stephen King that I haven't yet! (Yes, this includes the baseball book & the children's story.) If you check any of these out, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
10. Her Side of the Story by Alba de Céspedes: Finished the year strong by discovering this fantastic Italian author, whose subversive novel about love & crime completely sucked me in. The characters are rich, the prose is stunning, and I've already requested all her other works.
9. Shark Heart: A Love Story by Emily Habeck: Talk about a book I couldn't put down. I tore through this one in a matter of hours, & wish there was more. This novel is emotional, experimental and something you'll laugh and cry at in equal parts. Easily my top book of 2023!
8. Old Enough by Haley Jakobson: A heartbreaking and heartwarming coming-of-age story that absolutely everyone should give a try. The cast of characters is brilliantly drawn, and the plot is achingly resonant.
7. Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll: Jessica Knoll can do no wrong, but this one is a standout even by those standards. It's a crime novel that bridges decades, generations & genres. I couldn't get enough of this one and would give anything to read it for the first time again.
6. The Push by Ashley Audrain: This is another one where the protagonist's spiral dominates everything. Equal parts sad and scary, it's a story about motherhood and fear that keeps you guessing long after the final page.
5. Yellowface by R.F. Kuang: Not only does this have an audiobook narrated by the stunning Helen Laser, it's a stunning novel about publishing, identity, and more! I really couldn't put this one down and the narrator's spiral is pretty much all-consuming.
4. Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott: What a spectacular read! I can't say enough about this novel, which touches on siblings, generational trauma, memory, & more. It's a modern-day Baba Yaga story, and to tell anything more would risk spoilers, so just go give it a read!
3. The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mikki Brammer: Another in the cute but heartbreaking category, this is a novel that I've recommended to just about everyone since finishing it in May. It's such a human story and full of little twists that build to a perfect ending.
2. The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi: This was a spooky, atmospheric Blackbeard reimagining from one of my favorite YA authors! It was such a dreamy read that's perfect if you're looking for something equal parts creepy and gorgeous.
1. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus: It's cute, it's smart, it's unexpectedly devastating; what else could you ask for! This was such a fun read to start the year with and is an equally charming Apple adaptation.
In 2023, I read 150 books total (and didn't finish a few others!), marking one of my better reading years! there were some great books, there were some less-great ones. here's a chronological list of my top 10!
