The Autostede Kickstarter is live!
This has been a project I've been poking at away at for years now, and I'm finally doing the big push to get it published.

Thankyou Melbourne for a fantastic #PAXAUS I am speechless at the response that Autostede received, and can't wait until next time! For now though, I need to lay down for a bit...

I cleared as much as I could but as it has been locked there's a lot I can't change

Has anyone had any experience with resolving issues in Meta Business? I had my ad account hacked several years ago, managed to recover it, secure it and am still trying to re-gain the ability to post ads on fb/insta. looking now, my support ticket is two years old with no resolution

I don't know if this is the correct stance, but I'm proud to call it an Illuminated game, and I am super grateful to Spencer Campbell for being the giant whose shoulders I could stand on to create something that, I think at least, is incredible. Thankyou. 6/6
kettleandclock.bsky.social
So I added in the Illuminated by LUMEN graphic. I didn't hesitate and I don't regret it. It has evolved and morphed from its roots but those roots exist. The fact that it no longer looks like anything like Light actually doesn't bother me. I think it's a feature, not a bug. 5/?
kettleandclock.bsky.social
I was suddenly hit with a flood of memories about discussions about people quoting their influences and the benefits of transparency when it came to the genetic history of games. Not only that but I feel LUMEN, like PbtA, is more of a vibe than a strict mechanical framework. A stance on design 4/?
kettleandclock.bsky.social
At some point I had unconsciously decided that this game had evolved beyond being a LUMEN game. After seeing Spencer discussing game design and remembering the deep dives I was doing with earlier versions of the game, I pulled out the LUMEN SRD. 3/?
kettleandclock.bsky.social
This is until I went to put together the final version to send to the printer. I went back over the digital file to make sure there were no glaring errors, and of course I have been over this file a thousand times so I didn't find anything. But I had seen a post from @gilarpgs.bsky.social 2/?
kettleandclock.bsky.social
For quite a while now I have discussed at the table that Autostede is based on a game that was inspired by Destiny, which is why some parts are explicitly video gamey, and I have always gotten a good reaction, but for some reason I stopped calling it a game that was Illuminated by LUMEN 1/?

Yeah, but at the same time, it's already Wednesday

I never understood why mecha appealed to me so much as a genre until my psychologist explained that the mind-body connection breaking down is not an experience that neurotypicals generally go through.

Did this on accident this week, reached out to a potential new distribution channel and turns out I went to the same university. 5 minute business call turned into hours of chatting. Why did we stop doing this?

If you are interested in the messy space between TTRPGs and board games, you should be following @adambell.games. He's doing really fascinating work. Can't wait to get my copy of Uneasy Lies the Head.

I've covered his games twice on SCM.

Links below. 👇

To All Artists:

Repost that art. Milk that piece more, it took a lot to draw. Post close up shots, color edits, speedpaintings, the background lore. Be annoying about it.

It took too much effort!

It’s time to start filling up my dance card again with TTRPG shenanigans!
If you’re looking for a guest to join your actual play cast, or someone to wax lyrical about storytelling, AP production of TTRPG fan community building, I’d love to have a chat!

This is something I really honed in on in Neon Badlands. I had previously solidified the drop table as an effective mechanic but adding the social and selfish tags to dice results allowed players to gesture at their board and extrapolate some wild roleplay
adambell.games
it also featured something ive been really interested in exploring and playing more, which is very specific board-gamey mechanics that imply stuff in the fiction but don't need to spell it out directly. Trusting the players to interpret the cube sliding or card playing or whatever else is just fun

I have been enlightened to a group that I had not considered in my initial marketing forays for my game Autostede: Neon Badlands. Hey #warhammer40k fans, is this something you'd be into?

I love the speed at which I started to receive offers to make a web app after I registered a domain. Best App! Cheapest Price! Fastest Development!

... I just wanted to be able to host files and send out neat little urls
kettleandclock.bsky.social
makes me wonder if the correct solution is to go all the way back to webrings.

Everyone runs their own site but we all link to everyone else's sites. I wonder how long it would take before it became impossible to manage
kettleandclock.bsky.social
I saw an email today that it had been approved and was now available for purchase.

I went to check it out, mostly to make sure I hadn't messed up anything.

I've already made 2 sales...

Apparently there are people who buy TTRPGs on drivethruRPG
kettleandclock.bsky.social
*sigh* I saw a post somewhere saying how important it actually is to publish your TTRPG on drivethruRPG, just because a certain percentage of players only go there, and don't go to itch at all.

So I set up a publisher account and uploaded the game.

I'll I gotta pick this one up!
