A closeup of a raft adrift on a dark, stormy, sea. Survivors are huddled all over every inch of the raft, their thin bodies desperately trying to get the attention of a ship. The chiaroscuro is evocative - you can almost feel the hunger and desperation, smell the sweat and decay and saltwater.

I feel like there is something evil in this mask because the temptation to post a million stereotypical "dumb guy" pics while wearing it is overwhelming. Standard divorced dad pic. Delivering a hot take from my truck while wearing Oakleys pic, pic on someone's podcast pitching my own podcast, etc.

www.spirithalloween.com/product/fles... so I found this mask at Spirit Halloween today and I got it because obviously (it opens and closes if you manipulate it just right) and it reminds me of some of the minor Owl House characters that are just a mouth full of fangs.

I'm not sure, because I haven't read the book that Total Recall was based on, but they might both be tongue-in-cheek references to Hitchhikers Guide, which also had a throwaway reference to Eccentricia Gallumbits, The Triple Breasted Whore of Eroticon 6.

Either Pompeii or Qumran, and both for the same reason. We have a treasure trove of artifacts from these settlements, and you could spend a year putting a name to every plaster face, or putting a name to every scribal hand.

Three Commedia dell'Arte playing music together, filtered through the lens of Cubism. On the left is a Pierrot, playing a clarinet. In the middle is a Harlequin playing a guitar, and on the right is Dottore holding sheet music. There are various accoutrements on a table including tobacco and a pipe, and if you look carefully beneath Pierrot and Harlequin, you might spot a dog. I have a soft spot for the Commedia in art since they are an influence on my comic.

Another issue with the "X is a distraction from the Files" is that we don't actually need the Files. We have Epstein's victims who say that Trump was there and also raping people. We don't need Epstein's written testimony, we don't have to value the words of a rapist over his victims.

I maintain that "X is a distraction from the Epstein Files" is just the Blueanon version of "Trust the Plan. It's not a conspiracy, it's just an evil organization doing two different evil things.

this is a fascist setting up the field to eliminate every point of friction that might impede an attempt to seize absolute power.

quippy posts about epstein are delaying your realization of, & motivation to fight, that fact.

Alt: the dancers from the song "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega. To me they (along with the Doo-doo-doo chorus) are the most memorable part of the song. Probably because they are hip hop dancers dancing along with a spoken word piece which feels slightly out of place. Not that I hate it.

I feel like there is the ghost of a good movie in here (and it's probably just Minority Report again.) But there is genuine commentary to be made on our criminal system and it's use of profiling, surveillance, and AI. But I don't think this movie will be it.

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

Despite being kinda silly (a lot of these animals don't even form groups) there is something very beautiful and poetic about them and I feel like Juliana Berners put a lot of thought into each one of them.

Some of them are so beautiful, and some of them have become Innocuous. A Pride of Lions. Others aren't quite Innocuous but they are still very well known. A Parliament of Owls, a Business of Ferrets, a Clowder of Cats, a Murder of Crows, etc.

so I have been reading up on Terms of Venery (aka the collective nouns for animals in English, since English doesn't have a quick and easy way to turn "thing" into "bunch of thing" like stockade collonade etc.) They were mostly just made up by one Medieval Woman and they are both amazing and dumb.
