For new followers, I'm Kevin Wilson and I've designed tabletop games for about 25 years now, though I'm mostly known for board games these days. Around here I largely talk about my games, food, and my recently-renewed cd collection. I try to encourage folks to be kinder to themselves and each other.

Well, that was a rollercoaster, certainly surprised me. Guess I'll have to collect the full set of books.

Goodness, Comet in Moominland is genuinely kind of horrifying and tense. It's probably good that I never came across it as a kid. I definitely would've had nightmares from it. I'm loving it, mind you, but good grief.

Didn't go for a long walk, as I didn't want to get soaked, but I did my short walk at least, and got some chili from culver's for dinner. I've been listening to Comet in Moominland, and geez, that book goes pretty hard compared to what I was expecting. Super ominous. I'm curious how it'll end.

Hmm, it's kinda rainy out and I've got about an hour before sundown. Clearly, it's walk with umbrella o'clock.

Two days left to vote in the 2025 IFComp! Skootch on over to ifcomp.org and make sure that you've voted on at least five entries. We appreciate you, and our authors do, too!
The IFComp 2025 logo is an ornate gold-framed mirror with silhouetted profile, stylized text ‘IFComp,’ crown, stars, moons, and a banner reading 2025.

Yeah, I was introduced to them in Finland when I went there as a Ropecon guest of honor. I really enjoyed the switch game and I find the stories just very pleasant.

I'm not, but I've watched some of it on youtube, so I'm vaguely tempted.

Found a couple Moomin books at the used book store today, but my back is feeling kinda thrashed, so I think I'll hunt up an audio version of one of them and lie back and listen to that this evening.

Ugh, yeah. Too many people confuse that with anything that actually matters. And in the meantime they almost universally amplify the scumbags' words to others.

I did track down the soundtrack though, and it's pretty darn good, so I've got all 3 on cd now.

I didn't really know it had all those creeps associated with it. Instead, I checked out 3 seconds into the trailer when I saw it was set in the real world. Given how mediocre Legacy was for me, I REALLY wasn't interested in seeing "It's Tron, but a billionaire makes it real and causes havoc."

I think multiplayer solitaire has its place, but I only really like it in engine/city/whatever-building games, where I want to make my little whatever and watch it spin some, then show it off to the other players. Too often it's used just because a game is trying to aim at a part of the market.

Hmm, no peppers around to chuck in, but I'll add a pinch of sugar for sure.

Trying to make some simple pickled onions I saw on Roll for Sandwich, which as stated involved the juice of 3 limes, a red onion, and some salt. So, I've got that mixed up and in the fridge. I'll report back eventually and let you know how it went.

I've had my sliding glass door open most of the last few days, trying to enjoy the weather while it lasts. Before long, I'll be locked in for 6 months of winter or so. This year, however, more than any other, I feel I've taken advantage of the outdoors while it's nice out. So yay me. :)

Spent the day working on my homebrew version of the Great Khan Game. Just something fun for me to putter around with. Then I got in a walk before it got dark (3 deer), poked through the record store briefly, and got dinner from the lovely Vietnamese place down the road.

My farmshare friends are out of town this week, so I headed over to the pickup site today to grab it. A bushel of veggies and a dozen eggs. Happily, this year we've gotten a fair amount of apples, and not much eggplant. I admitttedly snuck a couple squashes into other folks' boxes (I'm allergic).

I can imagine. I'll have to keep a sharp eye out.
kevinwilson42.bsky.social
Nice! I really need to pick that up on dvd too.

Big businesses always want endless handouts while their owners take hard-line stances against feeding the poor, housing the homeless, paying for libraries, universal healthcare, etc. We have to stop listening to these empty husks pretending to be people.

Then let it die, the same way how if you can't pay your employees, you should go out of business. If you can't bear the cost of doing business, then you're either a charity or a criminal, not a business.

That's wonderful, Patrick! Congratulations!
