It is not that they (there are a lot of 'theys' these days) CAN'T do these things, because plainly they can. It's that they SHOULDN'T, and everyone KNOWS that they shouldn't, and yet they do it anyway, and nobody knows what to do about that.

This is actually true. We've had to stop buying pickles for a while because literally everything in the pickle aisle at our local store was made in the US even though the cucumbers came from Ontario.
