so i still enjoyed it, just had to ignore that the woman is a straight up object (ugh)

i thought it was watchable... but imagine if ares and athena were swapped. i found her acting much better than his and that plus some dialogue tweaks... a) lesbians, b) it being a woman would've worked as a parallel to the sister eve lost...
lots of missed potential. also lame action, unfortunate

and jared leto's terrible acting did not help the weak dialogue... anytime depeche mode comes up that's suppose to be this humanising moment for ares but leto just looks into the camera like he's trying to emulate a frog...

and he has no chemistry with anyone, especially egregious with flynn :(

that bike chase sequence...

sfx look geniunely great but the set pieces are sooo lame. a car is sliced in half for no reason.
there's an akira bike slide. athena gets hit in the head by the tron ducati and it looks SO silly.
she then has to walk back up seven stories, looking just as silly.

michael sheen plays a gay socialite black market dealer (idk how else to describe it) who betrays his clients only to get blown up by his other client. this entire plot beat is there for exactly two things: to give the macguffin to the bad guys for a minute and to give daft punk a cameo appearance.

so i'm seeing ares tomorrow so i wanted to have seen this beforehand.

it's fine, entertaining enough, the score is really good and the action was fun.

it lacks the charm of the OG and the updated designs kinda don't work for me.
dialogue was just okay.
