my parents are gen x and are generally pro eu, but they dont like the eu gaining to much power that can dictate what our state(Denmark) should do cause they stil consider danes first and foremost not europeans.
think theres to much doomerism, you expect many societies to make decisions they are not comfortable with, things that prob would come naturally decades down the road but now being asked to do it on fly. In my opinion only gen z and younger millenials feel comfortable with more eu integration

disagree Denmark existed even before the viking age, charlemagne had alot of political scrubble with these 2 dudes. Denmark saw saxony and frisia as our vassals and godfred supposedly proclaimed he was gonna come and kill charlemagne himself in achen.
feel a little sad you dont mention this one, one of the longest standing border constructions in europe was active from around 500-1200AD. Of course alot of it was built and expanded over time but still.
