Having functional clothes is fine. Having cute, functional clothes is better. Even if no one else is going to see you.

I shop sales for almost everything and wear it all to pieces before I replace anything. But, I paid (ridiculous) full price for my nightgown because it's beautiful.

Four months ago today, respected Minnesota legislator Melissa Hortman was assasinated in a planned shooting by an extremist. October 14 would be better served honoring her death (and her husband, and injured Senator Hortman and wife) instead of a podcaster and professional provocateur.

I wanted her to distract me from what my hands were doing. And she did. Then we went to her apartment. It became a routine and it was great.

@annmeeker.bsky.social and I may be working out something similar for yardwork. There may be some trading off of labor, too.

Before we had children, I had a friend that I traded off watching each other do housework with. The first time she came over, she wanted to help. I told her that if she helped, I couldn't ask her again because ever after I would be asking her to come help me clean. That was not the point.

I texted my friend and said "Do you want to a) come talk to me while I plant stuff, b) go get a coffee or c) do stuff that it not with me?" She chose A. The tulips are planted. The pansies are planted. We had good talk. I pulled a little weeds.

I want to reread The Chosen and the Beautiful before I read Don't Sleep with the Dead and it took me 4 tries to find it.
