Today, we recognize Canadian Women Physicians Day and Dr. Jennie Trout, the first woman in Canada licensed to practise medicine. While we're moving toward gender parity in medicine, we need to continue addressing the discrimination and income disparity women physicians face #WomenDocsCAN
This #IWD2025, I'm reflecting on the great privilege of serving as CEO of @ontariosdoctors.bsky.social, where the board and executive team is 59% women and members are 44% women. As I stand on the shoulders of women before me, society needs to continue to #accelerateaction for gender equality
For example, a practical solution to the shortage of anesthesiologists is for government to advance funding to hospitals to hire anesthesiology assistants. This will result in a decrease in surgical wait times.
Ontario's doctors have the solutions to fix the issues in the health-care system, and we’re calling on all parties and voters to prioritize health care this election.
Last Friday’s debate saw leaders discussing many issues including health care – the health portion was devoted mostly to family medicine and the need to ensure everyone has access to care. And during this past Monday’s debate, a health-care question was the first out of the gate.
