It's just so normalized. Most people get news from TikTok or Twitter over very biased word of mouth nowadays. And everyone is always engaging with the bad stories, so you have to engage too to not be left out. If your circle has a rage and you don't join in, you're the next target.

Like a decade ago I was very engaged in all that shit and I was a horrible person due to all the bitterness. Then I started a thing where every time I see bad news I look up some positive story to balance it out and goddamn am I doing better mentally.

Being outraged in selective cases, sure go nuts. But when it becomes a pattern, you are just outraged for the sake of being outraged. Consuming bad news all the time, engaging in controversy daily, that shit drains you so much and actively makes you a worse person. And it's by choice.

I try to stay out of shit that ain't my business, but outrage culture is exhausting. Let's just fuckin' relax homies. Yelling into the internet void is doing nothing, but swirling that anger inside you more and in the process, catching other people in that cycle.
