Members of all but four cohorts of #CottrellScholars since 1994 were in Tucson this week to welcome a new group of outstanding teacher-scholars to this special community. Congratulations!
! What a coincidence! @erlynch.bsky.social guess who I saw tonight in Knoxville…
Thank you to the UT Alumni Association for this teaching award and ceremony last night! 🧑🏻‍🏫⭐️🎉
Feels so good to say that this little diddy is published in PLB!! Congrats to my team on getting this through!

Handle your jets with care!!

oh btw - how many electronic music nights does your physics department have a year?
Fly By Night. May 24. VJing for Science&Reason. It’s like a science fair but with more dancing and a lot darker.

An unexpected surprise. The 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics honors over 13,000 researchers whose labors have led to the precise description the Higgs mechanism, … breakthroughprize.org/News/91 @CERN

Join us at the Knoxville Museum of Art on March 27th at 6pm for the latest talk in our Distinguished Lecture Series by Fred Moten and Brandon Lopez, as well as at 6:30pm on March 29th for their spoken word and jazz performance! We hope to see you all there!
Not sure what they're on about BUT.. The US Department of Energy's particle physics budget is only about the price of one coffee per American per year. With that, the US has helped discover the majority of the Standard Model's particles, most on US soil.

Imagine what we could do with two coffees...
In the FCC study we work on disruptive technologies for the benefit of the society. Conceiving a method to convert pure information, bits and bytes through interaction with your mobile banking application to create actual, tangible matter. First results are promising as can be seen in the image.

Yoooo - Thanks for coming out last night to see Harmonic Motion Scruffy City Hall (w/
a Science&Reason DJ set). Was a blast to play some bloops, crack open a guitar, and try a hand at live VJing for Science&Reason in #touchdesigner. So good to see everyone and hope to play again for you soon!
Test one two three
After my set tomorrow, I try my hand at a little VJing for Science & Reason’s set 👨🏻‍🎨
FIRST POST. OSCILLOSCOPE TOAST.
HAPPENING AGAIN. COME HEAR SOME SCIENCE.

So honored to be one of this year’s fellows! Thrilled to be part of the mission of the Sloan Foundation, especially given that it was Sloan-funded PBS shows that first got me excited about science. #SloanFellow
🎉Congrats to the 126 early-career scientists who have been awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship this year! These exceptional scholars are drawn from 51 institutions across the US and Canada, and represent the next generation of groundbreaking researchers. sloan.org/fellowships/...
Ahhhhhh all the things! @tovaholmes.bsky.social earns another honor for our little high energy physics group!

Honored to be UTK’s second Cottrell Scholar (after @tovaholmes.bsky.social!). I’ll work on accelerator projects towards a future muon collider and developing support structures for students transferring from community college (as I did) who face unique challenges in physics programs (as I also did!)

Hey y'all US friends!
Did you see my postdoc ad to come and work with me on CMS? inspirehep.net/jobs/2864716
We usually get very few American applicants in EU unis (zero again, so far), but maybe at this moment in time it's a nice opportunity?
Deadline is flexible.

NSF has taken down their award management system while conducting a comprehensive review to check compliance with recent EOs. This means, among other things, that NSF fellows can’t request their Feb 1st paychecks

What a time to be on a “prize” fellowship
Yes! “Night science” is 💯.
