A physical ID card isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but the rollout, data storage, data minimisation and access control and transparency is paramount, plus it must be auditable

Saying that it’s going to be required for ‘workers’, is just pulling the wool over people’s eyes. Makes it sound like a smaller group than it actually is. The vast majority of people work, so that’s a lot of the population already. Then people will feel pressured into handing over their data because

The only thing I can keep thinking about the digital ID card situation is that it’s a cybersecurity nightmare. It really is going to be a case of ‘when’, not ‘if’ the data is leaked or there’s a breach

A physical card would be more secure and be more accessible and inclusive anyway

It’s scary to watch from the outside - I can’t imagine how it is inside.

The suppression of freedom of speech, and the US president openly saying he would ban pride flags if he was allowed to, is utterly insane.

Go to Canada, go to Mexico, go wherever is safe if you can

If you’re queer and you live in the United States, now is the time to leave for your own safety. Until this point, I’ve supported the ‘stand and fight back’ argument when it comes to queer rights in America, but it’s not viable anymore.

It’s so wild. I completely forgot about it until today. I remember being utterly petrified to come out but I did it and I will never, ever go back. I love myself so much more than I ever did pre-transition
