Lee Pace is an amazing actor with insane amounts of screen presence, capable of being charming, vulnerable, elegant reserved and controlled in ways very few actors are.
Here's a thread showcasing all that, and why he SHOULD be the @jamesgunn.bsky.social's #DCU Bruce Wayne/Batman! He's PERFECT.
@cleanlined.bsky.social Did you intentionally base your Bruce Wayne design on british actor Tom Brittney? The resemblance is kinda uncanny!
It's not. They shot the exteriors in Svalbard, Norway and the interiors in a studio on Atlanta.
I've thought that she'd be kinda cool to present as sort of a big sister for Damian, considering how similar their backstories are. I think comics should've leaned into that.
She's amazing! I hope we can see her in the DCU
What comic did you read? Because that's not how it went down at all. His original conception as depicted in the Son of the Demon Batman had a Batman years and years into his career, around the same time Dick was already Nightwing.
Damian didn't show up "ten years after Bruce trained to become Damian" in the comics. His conception happened deep into his career when he was originally introduced. Plus this isn't the comics so they can do whatever they want in terms of the timeline of things.
He's the same age as Edi Gathegi who plays Mr. Terrific so I think it works fine, plus I don't mind if after the end of the 10 year plan in 2035 the Batman mantle gets inherited to Dick Grayson.
His voice is perfect for Batman too as shown in this edit; and I think voice is REALLY important for him. It has similar qualities to Kevin Conroy's without sounding like him. Strong, theatrical, smooth baritone. Any comic dialogue I can imagine with Lee.
And some clips of him raging too, just for fun. The visual at the end of this one is so Batman!
From Arkham Unhinged #14 by Derek Fridolfs and Federicho Dallocchio.
Also just for fun I'm putting this clip of him fighting ninjas while naked in Foundation Season 2, which reminded me of this Arkham Unhinged issue where Bruce also fought ninjas naked.
Recently this scene uploaded by @emmatolkin.bsky.social went viral on Twitter and man he can play cold and ruthless like no other. Cleon isn't really like Bruce Wayne but that darkness he shows here? Easily transferable in terms of acting.
Other very short clips that showcase what I am talking about, how intimidating he can be with just his eyes and tiny movements and gestures. (Also good showcase on how good he looks on armor and a cape!) He'd be a Batman that can COMMAND a room, so much presence.
And then he's able to play very small, just sing his eyes, his head, little movements in his face. Because of the cowl and how stoic the character is you need an actor with a lot of control over how they can show emotions in tiny ways like that. Lee can do that too, as shown here.
I think it's important for Batman actors is for them to be able to play things really, really small but also really really big. Batman has /a lot/ of emotions pent up. Sometimes they can simmer and just explode. Lee can explode.
The resentment, the sadness, the anger, the way he still tries to keep some semblance of control even though he's emotionally at his weakest.
I love this scene too. I think it showcases a lot of Lee's best qualities as an actor and why he'd make such a perfect Batman.
Can easily imagine him giving big Bruce Wayne speeches too. Very easy to imagine Lee's voice in a speech like the one in "Cold Days".
So good, can easily imagine him in those Wayne Enterprises business meetings!
