Our new paper is out! In collaboration with Flavia Marinelli’s and Oleksandr Yushchuk’s groups, we report the discovery of Kineomicin, a novel glycopeptide antibiotic featuring a unique scaffold: Hpg at AA1 and isoleucine at AA3. #antibiotics #naturalproducts

Communications Chemistry, Published online: 03 May 2025; doi:10.1038/s42004-025-01534-xThe rise of bacterial resistance necessitates the discovery of novel antibiotics, particularly the last-resort glycopeptide antibiotics (GPAs). Here, the authors identify a unique biosynthetic gene cluster in Actinokineospora auranticolor, leading to the discovery of kineomicins, a new class of GPAs with high production potential.
