My friend had a buddy who didn’t have kids and thought it was hilarious to give noisy birthday gifts. Then when Mr Hilarious had kids later in life, my friend gave his kid a marine-grade hand-cranked foghorn. The kind fishermen use when they lose power on their boat.

So I live in a community that is like, 95%+ Inuit. And the language of daily life is close to 100% Inuktitut. I was getting some of my students to teach me some things about Inuktitut today and I casually asked what the swear words are in Inuktitut.

Turns out there are none!

It’s cool to see the US sprinting towards dumping medical research, public health interventions, and food inspection.

Not everyone is going to want to hear this, but it’s obvious now that the rush to “get back to normal” in the middle of a deadly pandemic was 100% a rehearsal for this.
