Early-morning sloe and (European) barberry harvest.
The tiny seeds in the barberries are poisonous, but the rest of the fruits have a strong, sour, but still somewhat fruity flavor that I just love! (also look at these thorns)!

And the sloes are absolutely amazing in combination with venison!

The quinces cooled off overnight, and I took off the clips holding the lids. Everything was still sealed tight, so now they can sit on the shelf with the rest of the stuff I canned last year.

The kitchen is a battlefield today. 😅 The dehydrator is also being used for the first time this year.
Every room smells like quince, cinnamon and vanilla at the moment.

The family is different, not nearly as close as it was during my childhood, and many of my family members are gone. I spend most of my holidays alone these days.
Also I feel like holidays and the downtime around them are not being respected as much anymore, like, in general?

Of course things always look different from the perspective of a child, but I truly think that things were better back then. I do try to recreate that vibe, but the circumstances have changed. It's not even the responsibilities I have now, but how everything developed over the years.

🧵 What is something from your childhood you dearly miss or love to remember?

For me it's probably the vibes around the holidays, especially Christmas and New Years. We still had proper winters, things were less hectic and super cozy - holidays actually felt like holidays.

Except both "The Descent (uncut)" movies. How the fuck are both of those so insanely rare and expensive? >:(

Watching movies and TV shows at home via projector has been nice though. Idk why but it's easier to focus on them that way, compared to watching them through streaming services. (2/2)

Spotify is increasing its subscription price to 12,99€ per month even though they already increased it to 10,99€ not so long ago.
Everything keeps getting pricier. No wonder people are going back to pirating music and movies.
I'm glad I bought most of the media I like on CD and DVD/Blu-Ray. (1/2)

Something similar to focaccia, except it's mainly made of whole grain oat and einkorn flour + olive oil (makes it more crumbly), oregano, salt, garlic, onion, tomatoes, olives and goat cheese. Pretty sure this goes hard with some soup, but I didn't have the time to make more than this today. lol
