On this day in 1989 Liverpool FC beat Wimbledon 2-1 at Plough Lane. Peter Beardsley and Ronnie Whelan scored for the Reds, while Dennis Wise pulled one back for the Dons. LFC remained unbeaten in the league (5 wins and 3 draws in 8 games) and were sitting top of the table.

Happy 70th birthday Richard Money!
Money was signed from Fulham for £50,000 in May 1980. He made 17 first-team appearances and was on the bench when Liverpool beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the 1981 European Cup final. Liverpool FC sold him to Luton at the end of 1981-82 season.

Gerard Houllier was rushed into Broadgreen Hospital during Liverpool's game with Leeds on 13 October 2001 with chest pains. He had to immediately undergo a life-saving operation. Thankfully, he went on to make a full recovery, but he didn't return on the bench until March 2002.
