I’ll post a video next time I make them. I use a mold, and after separating the ravioli with a rolling pin, I press down with my finger along every edge to make sure they’re sealed.

Also make sure no air is inside the raviolo. It will expand during cooking and make it burst.

Dinner for tonight will be Dan Dan Noodles. I was thinking Chongqing Noodles, but I changed my mind. Oh, and I have some Sichuan dumplings aka Zhong dumplings in the freezer. I always make a bunch and freeze some. 🍽️

Unable to see a future post-Hitler, Goebbels and his wife Magda had an SS dentist inject their six children with morphine, then had a Nazi doctor poison them with cyanide. Then they killed themselves.

May their names be erased.

Goebbels remained in the Führerbunker with Hitler during the final siege (April-May 1945) of Berlin. After Hitler suicided on April 30, he served as Chancellor for one day—May 1, 1945. The Third Reich actually had two Chancellors during its brief existence: Hitler and Goebbels.

He clashed with leading Nazis Hermann Göring and Heinrich Himmler, whom he saw as rivals for Hitler’s attention. No other Nazi had more access to Hitler than Goebbels, though. He and his family dined with Hitler at least weekly, and they even vacationed together.

But he is best known for creating propaganda glorifying Hitler and demonizing Jews, Communists, and the Allies. He orchestrated, and broadcast live from, the first big book burning, of Magnus Hirschfeld’s library in May 1933. That was a purge of “un-German” literature.

As Minister of Propaganda, he oversaw the press, radio, film, theater, literature, music, and visual arts. He created the Reich Chamber of Culture, which required artists and journalists to register with the Party. He initiated widespread censorship in all forms of communication.

Goebbels was at heart a socialist, and would remain so all his life. Due to his slavish devotion (worship, really) of Hitler, he subsumed these beliefs and supported Hitler’s incoherent economic program, which has been described as state-directed corporatism.

In 1921, Goebbels graduated from the University of Heidelberg with a Ph.D. in Literature. His dissertation topic was, “Wilhelm von Schütz as a Dramatist” – a conventional literary thesis on 19th-century Romanticism.

Born into a lower-middle-class Catholic family, he suffered from a condition (likely osteomyelitis) that made one leg shorter, and malformed. He wore a brace all of his life. Due to the disability he was exempted from military service in WW I, which he resented.

OTD in 1897, Paul Joseph Goebbels was born in the small town of Rheydt (today a borough of Mönchengladbach) in the Rhineland. As Reich Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (1933–1945), he was Hitler’s voice to the world. 🧵
