There's nothing quite like film to help us understand experiences and realities that aren't ours. The 3-day line-up couldn't be happening at a more pivotal moment. Each one speaks to many of the issues politicians are currently debating and law making on.

If you're in or near the amazing city of New Orleans then come to one or all 3 days of Breakthrough Health Film Festival hosted by
@p4hnetwork.bsky.social and co-sponsored by my delightful workplace Tulane University Libraries. .

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

How long before deeply dangerous political mandates make their way into this company's curation decisions? Hopefully never, but definitely feeling very possible after this shake up 😕
lisahooper.bsky.social
The reminder this article gives that this is purely a financial decision is so chilling. Money hungry tech giants like this one are flocking to T's honey trap and along the way they're making horrible, horrible decisions.
lisahooper.bsky.social
Thanks for sharing! Ostensibly inclusion/exclusion of title in the collection is determined by the distribution agreement bw clarivate and the rights holder as well is curation by librarians (as if librarian involvement has ever been a cure for harmful bias in collection development).

Choose kindness this spring and enjoy all your perfumes once allergies have settled.
lisahooper.bsky.social
Dear perfume wearers,
It's spring in New Orleans, which means it's also allergy season. If you wear perfume, be kind to us seasonal allergy folks and don't. A brief scent of your chemical perfumes burns our noses and leaves us sneezing, congested, and generally ick feeling for the next hour.
