I say 'cautiously optimistic' here because even though we don't know who the devs actually are, most of the people credited on ggi's linkedin page are former microsoft/iron galaxy people (killer instinct.) it's yet to be seen if the devs are also ex-ki or if they scooped maximum's in-house devs.

gameplay group intl, a publisher owned in part by at least one former ki/iron galaxy dev, recently acquired tfh and diesel. the atla game announced today is another game they seem to have acquired from maximum. unclear who's on the development team. probably okay to be cautiously optimistic.

he's not listed on the publisher's linkedin and if the game was scrapped by maximum then it's likely that the version they dropped a trailer for today doesn't have anyone from maximum's in-house dev team (i.e. the shithead) on it. afaik ggi is mostly former iron galaxy people.

maximum fired mane6 which led to a lot of planned tfh content being scrapped or unfinished. maximum recently disclosed that a previously announced game being made in-house with the avatar:tla ip had been canceled. unclear if this was the diesel legacy team (i.e mike) but that game was also abandoned

there's a lot of confusion about what's going on with that avatar game. the breakdown is: modus acquired mane6's publishing rights from humble and consolidated as maximum entertainment. maximum had an in-house studio that did diesel legacy, and controversially hired mike z to work on their rollback.

I played a little chunk of the recent closed beta and then I played it a lot more over the last two days, mostly doing training mode drills and exploring tutorials/combo trials, and even though I'm 'used' to the button placements it feels way less intuitive than just binding these attacks to motions

also straight up even with a simple control scheme this game makes my hands feel so weird after a long play session, more so than games with motion inputs or harder execution. I even have an 8-button layout in ggst and that game doesn't feel as bad on my extremities as 2xko

I'm giving it an honest shot and I'm winning more now that they buffed my team but idk if I'm having fun because the game is fun or if I'm having fun because I'm scrubbing people who are playing their first fighting game

it feels like a game where, while obviously not solved, you can see what strategies will be popular and good in the long run and how the flow of a typical game will go. there'll be a constant drip of new for a long time with frequent balance patches but I don't know if that's a good thing either
