Light shining through the tail feathers of the common crane (grus grus).
Their feathers were an opulent addition to any hat until the Prohibition of the Importation of Plumage Act (1921).

I completely agree re commenting on every post - not sustainable. BOTD mustn't become a chore for you both.

This bird fledgling crash landed on a log next to me. I was standing waist high in the stream in camo headnet (demoiselles😁). It looked bemused by its surroundings.
