Was putting the camera away to head home, when this beauty perched up a few metres away.

He is one of the males on the River Lea at Hackney Marshes who are in conflict for territory.

I see you!

Kingfisher flew past, then noticed it had perched up in a bush just a few metres away.

It must have seen me, but was distracted, it turned out by another kingfisher close by.

As well as the two males, this female was in the mix as well, perched up about 5 metres away. She was clearly not happy about the intruding male.

There was lots of noise when I arrived at the River Lea this morning. A short while later I found these two male kingfishers in close proximity, sizing each other up.
