We're back at Glasgow Cross today, only, now, architect J. J. Burnet's beautiful, pepper pot, station has arrived.

Sadly, as the station grew busier, Burnet's beauty was demolished and replaced by a more utilitarian building.

Just back from the last show of Edwyn Collins's last tour, in Edinburgh, his birthplace. An incredibly moving show, packed with favourites and hits. And the beginning of the encore, where he played 'Low Expectations' and 'Home Again' was absolutely emotionally devastating.

Also, nice to see the steeple when it was still attached to the old Tollbooth - the former council chambers; the old Tontine Hotel, next door; and the King William statue, before it galloped up the hill towards the Cathedral.

A fabulous picture postcard of Glasgow Cross at the junction of the Trongate and High Street. The picture is certainly pre-1896 as there's no sign of Glasgow Cross station yet. The works to the left of the picture are the cut and cover tunnel being dug for the railway line.
