That data breach is still ongoing on the 15th Sept 2025.

The hacker has clear access to the booking dates, hotel, and the customer's phone number.

No comms to customers - it is shameful of Booking.com

did booking dot com suffer a data breach recently?

some "whatsapp business account" (+91 prefix) sent me a phishing message using the correct hotel name + dates

the domain is `verifyguest75541-booking.com`

A whatsapp business message from +91 77529 93755 that says:

Hello Amos, I am the administrator of redacted, my name is Christine Schmidt.

My assistant tried to contact you today regarding your reservation from redacted to redacted.

We noticed an issue, during the security check, the system was unable to verify your card details.

As part of Booking new policy to improve booking security, some guests are now required to confirm that they are the legitimate cardholders and that their booking is valid.

This approach is greatly reducing my cognitive effort to learn from, steer, and/or fix what the LLM is doing and allowed me to reduce wasteful stints in the wrong direction that nowadays LLMs still do now and then.

Each small, self-contained step is easier to review, roll back, or build on top of.

I find myself doing what I was doing when pairing with junior devs - telling them to list first what they intend to do, and then proceed one small step at the time after clarifying what changes they intend to do and how - but now I do it with the LLMs instead.
