Why would anyone want to be a scientist?

"Doing good science requires the utmost exertion of body, mind and spirit, yet is consistently filled with failure and rejection."

Herbicides harm more than weeds! 🐝🧪

A new study suggests that they indirectly disrupt plant-pollinator networks, potentially risking pollination services 🌼🌏 @julitavella.bsky.social

Thrilled to share our new study!

🔥Fire frequency shapes plant reproduction🔥

In Solanum palinacanthum, moderate fire frequency boosts plant size, hermaphrodite flowers & pollination, enhancing reproduction. But frequent fires reduce reproductive fitness & progeny vigor.

Fire effects on pollination and plant reproduction: a quantitative review by @lucarbone.bsky.social et al. in @annbot.bsky.social

Fire plays a crucial role in pollination and plant reproduction in fire-prone ecosystems, often enhancing floral visitation and absolute fruit and seed production. However, while single fires can be beneficial, increasing fire frequency due to human activities may disrupt these reproductive advantages, altering plant-pollinator dynamics and long-term ecosystem stability.
