Been busy spending my free time making progress on things but here's some info cards I whipped up on my for VN projects for ref

The first two are my main focus: the other two are my secondary ones & you’ll probably see most of my art surround these 4 projects as I bounce my interest between ‘em~
i don't have any hope that canon will see them interacting together beyond them once being each other's peers but considering they were once Numbers Four and Five together,,, I'd like to think they shared a mutual respect and could often be found bantering together in a friendly rivals kind of way 🥺
Hikari&Teiyo WIP because i think the idea of them being friends is cute 👉👈

one of them follows rules even if it gets in the way of her duties, the other makes his own rules to achieve his...they're foils I tell you and I want them to be close!!!
also im not at all mean towards characters i adore but,,, i think it'd be nice angst material if Inui targets Hikari and him doing that is what finally causes Hiroya to turn against his idol and lose his rose-tinted glasses, questioning reality + getting angry at the man for his cruelty :D
I really hope Hikari becomes the next leader of the Numbers (explaining why she's side by side with him in the S2 preview) and is trying to help Hiroya with his grief (even if it means comedically getting him to follow the rules she sets in place considering how stringent she is about them)
If I get this far in my fangame I'd like to imagine this is a canon scene bc Hiroya having abandonment issues towards mentor!Hikari and getting overly attached to her because she's literally the only adult he has left to look up to and trust in breaks my heart for him :Dc

i'd like to propose a headcanon that Teiyo was closest to Hikari before he left the Numbers without an explanation and Hikari is still angry at him for that (/"breaking the rules") leading to them butting heads and bickering over Hiroya's fate as the kid they have GOT to get up to speed w/ them
ngl im kind of hoping she's Hiroya's next mentor figure and that, due to his grief over his last two mentors leaving him, he faces abandonment issues towards her and is afraid of losing her too (👉👈 i like bittersweet angst okay)

also it'd be neat if her and Teiyo are Hiroya's next mentors please 🥺💞
Kagurazaka Hikari drawing bc it's about time i draw the funny rule follower gal 💞

i keep staring at that tiny little preview of her in the S1 finale,,, i can't wait for her step up into Hiroya's life and therefore finally show off why she's important to the plot (she's so cool)

#InfiniteAwakening
This scene obviously doesn’t exist in canon but I can 100% justify its existence I mean why else would Mimimi give Inui an endearing nickname if she didn’t feel close to him in some way (like, saaay, being raised by him as a mentor figure 😉)
Mimimi being Inui’s apprentice and Kei being Kurusu’s (with Hiroya ending up as Seseki’s obviously) feels like it makes total sense to me

Also the cast teasingly calling Inui “mom” and him rejecting that bc he doesn’t see himself as a parent is really funny irony to me I love it
*slaps this down*

Man, this fangame can hold so many headcanons if I want it to (and god do I want it to)
but im desperately trying to put the puzzle pieces together ahead of time and miserably failing with the info i have so far fjhghjfgj

Inui is such a closed-off character and him being two-faced does NOT help my understanding of him or the enigma of who he is (I love over-analyzing him v dearly lol)
out of its way to imply, in a running motif kind of way, that Hiroya's bond with Inui is reciprocated and that there is a justified reason why the story centers on these two in particular yet won't say why

i can't figure out what that reason is beyond my Inui = Hiroya's dad in the future theory-
ugh the way Infinite Awakening is so clever in slowly dissecting the events of six years ago and hinting there's waaaaaaay more to the story than what S1 has given is so up my alley it hurts

im so invested in why Inui would care about Hiroya at this point considering the narrative keeps going-
Mimimi's differing fate from Hiroya is such a good showcase of show not tell too because it's just one more moment on the pile proving that Inui favors Hiroya without a justifiable reason and thusly adding to the mystery of why Inui would care about Hiroya in particular over anyone else in-verse 🤗
i like too how Mimimi's character successfully suckered me in to the intended effect. I immediately saw she was a parallel to Hiroya, became endeared to the idea and invested in her and her character (esp. after seeing her creator favor her), then happily got gut punched bc of my foolishness lol 🥰
it still absolutely floors me that she, of all characters, would be killed considering the creator seems to adore her the most out of all their cast members and god does that show in the story itself for how much screentime and plot relevancy she gets)
watching the way Inui treats Mimimi differently over Hiroya DESPITE them both being in the same set of shoes (as far as the story has told so far!!!) is such amazing storytelling that I can't be mad about Mimimi's fate considering up to this point she was heavily favored as a character (also-
Watching the way Inui ruthlessly cuts down Mimimi yet constantly gives Hiroya chances to run away / not face his own transgressions (albeit after his first kill attempt failed, admittedly) does an amazing job highlighting Inui's favorability towards Hiroya without saying anything at all about it
implication Inui favors them both equally because both of them are kids he saved whose faith in him he doesn't want break

and then Inui kills Mimimi. Doesn't even hesitate. Doesn't even show regret or guilt. Just does.

and you go

oh

ohhhhHHHHH
saving Hiroya was more special to Hiroya than to him

it really sets up the idea that Mimimi and Hiroya are parallels, that both of them are in the same set of shoes as kids who were saved by Inui and chose to fight for his ideals because of it, resulting in the-
the way the story sets up Inui's saving of Mimimi as a parallel to Hiroya's, implying Inui is just a kind person with a penchant for saving and comforting children badly traumatized by situations he just happened to be able to save them from, sets up the idea Inui is just a Nice Guy TM and him-
also re: Inui saving Mimimi

i really like too that Mimimi being in the same exact situation Hiroya is in - having been saved by Inui as a child and comforted by him in a five second moment not unlike Hiroya's own - is a very clever use of misdirection + show not tell
i also really like too that Inui isn't black and white towards Hiroya: it's clear he cares for the kid, that he has some reason to favor him, but he's honestly manipulative about it and is quick to turn on Hiroya when it suits him, resulting in a push-pull effect of kindness wrapped in cruelty 😔
i just,,, this is why I obsess over Inui because he feels like such an easy and simple character to understand but the more you try to comprehend the reason for his actions the more you realize...no he's actually not that simple he's wildly complex and mysterious about it still somehow????
