I was curious how hard it would be to make. I've been practicing both and it's surprisingly hard to make a -good- tortilla.
I shop at HEB in Texas, so I'm not sure what the options are like in other places, but if you find a half and half tortilla definitely give them a shot!

I was weirded out for the longest time and now I'm just kicking myself over it lol.
I know y'all are probably tired of looking at tacos, but have y'all tried those "mixtas" tortillas? The half corn/half flour???

I've been sleeping on them forever. They're amazing!

They fry like corn tortillas, but they remain pliable like flour.

Crunchy edges, but soft middle.

Let's share food photo tips.

When taking a food picture, I generally like to increase brightness, increase contrast, adjust black level to be darker, increase saturation, and then add a "pop" effect.

I consider myself an amateur though.

Any photography gurus have recommendations?

She's in a permanent state of that at this point. 😁
Things I send my wife.

Idk how I make it through the day sometimes tbh. I'm so spaced out.

That's what I do for the regular heating. They are great with the first cooking. But of a crunchy, but soft and pliable.

How do they hold up when you fry them tho? Do yours get crunchy and stay in tact like the store ones?

Mine will snap and crumble if I try it.
I've been practicing my homemade corn tortillas.

I can get them to a soft flexible state when cooked, which is awesome since store bought are brittle and annoying.

My problem is with frying them. I have the opposite problem. Mine then become brittle and fall apart.

Advice?

I haven't posted much about weight loss lately. I'm still hovering in that 230-235 range because I keep enjoying food πŸ˜….

I still work out but I just haven't been watching calories.

Stress eating is definitely a thing too. I use comfort meals to offset sucky days, and lately there's been a lot.

A concha! It's a Mexican pastry.

It's pretty thick, yet airy. Has a powdered sugar pattern on top.

It mimics a shell in design.
I've actually never had one. Tastes like chicken I imagine?
Ooo fancy πŸ‘€. Plating has always been my weak point.

Props to those who can make food look like art!
Thought I was clever making salsa verde chicken ramen, but after mixing it, it just tasted like Hot and Sour soup. So really, I just made hot and sour ramen lol.

It's gonna be weird to admit this, but I didn't eat Chinese food until I was in high school πŸ˜….

I'm from a very small border town and there was like 2 restaurants. I never went, and neither did my family. My parents mostly just stuck to what they knew.

It might be why I love it so much now lol.
I mean it still looks pretty fancy for a little sweet treat lol.

Would make a twinkie blush.

I wanna try to find one!
I've actually never got in to seafood, but my parents still swear by it lol. That's definitely the kind of stuff they consider top shelf. They always talk about all the fresh seafood in Mexico.
Lol I used to think their bbq ribs were top shelf restaurant experience as a kid too 🀣
When you were growing up, what was your idea of gourmet?

Mine was properly melted refried beans and cheese.

Tacos, nachos, or even by itself. It was hands down the most comforting, satisfying, delicious thing my little taste buds could have.

I'm curious what y'all's are.
