We are looking for new volunteers who are passionate about theatre and performance, who are open minded and willing to learn, and who will respect the rights and experience of our learning disabled actors.
Our volunteers support and encourage our learning disabled and autistic actors to work to the best of their abilities, while participating fully in workshops and rehearsals. There will be opportunities to support our actors onstage and backstage during rehearsals and performances.
Just FIVE days left to apply to BOTH our online programme Lung Ha Across Scotland AND to join our Board of Trustees!

Featuring our Ensemble as well as some incredible creative collaborators, we’re exploring questions around: who gets a seat at the table (and who notices who doesn’t)? And, once we’re there, what shall we do?

Watch this space! 👀

Rounding out this #ScotLDWeek25, we've spent the last 3 days getting our feet back under The Table with our friends at Curious Seed! It's been wonderful to spend this time at North Edinburgh Arts focusing on an ambitious new devised work entitled The Table (planned production 2026).
Everyone had a fabulous time and it was so lovely to witness first-hand the actors' passion, dedication and talent. Thank you to Lorna and Nicola for hosting us, and to all the actors for giving up an evening of your time and not being afraid to throw yourselves into the workshop!
Across Scotland Lead Artist Fiona Mackinnon travelled to Dundee earlier this week to lead an in-person taster session with the Illuminate Ensemble working with Safari: safaritayside.home.blog

You may already have spotted that we’re currently accepting applications for new Trustees to join our Board AND for our next set of participants in our online programme Lung Ha Across Scotland (deadline for both is Wednesday 1st of October) – but that’s not all!
This week is Scottish Learning Disability Week 2025, and so we thought we’d share a wee bit about what we’ve been up to! 👀
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 1st October at 5pm. Auditions are scheduled to take place online (in the form of a short, informal interview on Zoom) on Monday 13th October 2025.

You do not need to have any previous drama experience, just a real interest and commitment to joining in, an interest in learning about theatre & acting skills and that you enjoy working with other people.

You must also be able to commit to attending every Monday evening throughout the programme.
The programme will be run by artists Fiona Mackinnon and Ryan Duncan, with a series of exciting workshops on specialist skills such as acting for screen & devising theatre.

It will run from Monday 27th October 2025 until Monday 9th March 2026, with a winter break from mid-December to early January.
Lung Ha Across Scotland is a programme of FREE weekly online drama workshops for people with learning disabilities who live outside Edinburgh, or who for other reasons cannot attend the Lung Ha Ensemble sessions in person.

Workshops will be on Zoom on Monday evenings between 6pm and 7.30pm.
