No gametes is the third state. You have been schooled on this so many times. And reproductive “role” excludes VSDs and homosexuality.

The issue is which sex category an individual gets sorted into for human purposes and law and so on, not whether evolution hit upon a two gamete arrangement.

On what possible basis is sex immutable if individuals who don’t produce gametes are placed into one or the other sex category and the sex-linked attributes that align with or support either gamete are medically changeable/can be induced with hormones and surgeries?

So for someone to genuinely conclude that sex is both functionally and literally immutable is just not defensible on any grounds besides the same kinds of grounds used in those neofascist and reactionary concepts: that the discomfort of recognizing fluid categories is too great to allow it, period.

In society, sex category is and has always been based on phenotype, and at a fairly blunt level of analysis. So even if you ignore the biology and genitals and health aspects of how much transition changes sex (far more than not), then how someone’s sex is read would also be of prime importance.

It’s genuinely difficult to see how any but the most motivated forms of reasoning (find a way to claim that whatever extremely small ways that sex is immutable are somehow the only, relevant, and defining aspects of sex) could conclude biological sex is not functionally and clearly changeable.

It’s even stranger when people (like you here) appeal at the margins to static genetics (rarely relevant to categorizing an individual human on its own), rather than in the proper context of how genes flow and are regulated and ultimately code for the proteins that actually make up the body!

I’m really trying to engage here, because at the margins I genuinely cannot comprehend how someone who sees themself as a feminist or a liberal or a leftist or an empath can fail to see the extraordinary parallels. It seems a kind of reverse dualism, too, a denial that others have like consciousness

I mean your argument seems *beyond* the “13/50” arguments made by the far right to justify redlining and segregation, mainly because transsexual women have radically distinct behavior, identity, hormonal, and even certain neurobiology developments from men and face female specific dangers.

I personally think that the man who plays a role in killing thousands of people, and maiming or impoverishing thousands more, in a man made flood of monumental callousness, and uses financial power to avoid jail or consequence also dies disgraced.

I mean you seem to believe woman is a category solely defined by birth status but not by neurobiology, identity, behavior, phenotype, hormones, or anatomy, and you seem to - unless I misunderstood our prior discussions - search for ever more narrow and invisible and irrelevant ways to shore that up

There are two discrete and real sex phenotypes that we are hardwired to an extreme level to instinctively recognize and categorize. I am not talking about social gender and gender nonconformity. I am all for protections for nonconformity, but sex is real and conflating this stuff has been a disaster

You just said nobody is saying that about sex. You are the one claiming not to be female and that transition doesn’t change sex, and that doctors do not or should not say that, so what am I missing?

Just say you think you are a male despite having a female body and stop pretending that gives you the right to pull all trans women in the bucket with you.
