Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

The Lady Eleanor Swift Mystery series has retained it’s quality over the course of 20 plus books and the newest addition - ‘Murder At The Royal Palace’ is no different. Once again we get a truly enjoyable cosy mystery that has it’s trademark heart and humour throughout.

Ellie and Hugh are starting their married lives with Hugh’s knighting at Buckingham Palace, but of course, murder makes itself known and so, accompanied by faithful butler Clifford and the rest of the Henley Hall Gang, they set about unmasking the killer and forcing secrets to rise up with plenty of investigative shenanigans along the way.

I love the sense of family we get in these books and the way our characters are developing as we enter this new phase of life. The accompanying quiet investigations into the fate of Ellie’s parents is also a nice addition that I’m looking forward to seeing develop further.

They erased the new Banksy mural in London. But the stain remains.

They were back again yesterday, except this time they had a new sign reading protect our kids. But today there was another, larger group of people with a sign reading Educators Against The Far Right. So we beeped them and shouted good for you. Large police presence there. Hadn't seen them before.

More of them were back today but closer to the hotel on a roundabout. So I slowed and rolled my window down. And from the bottom of my soul and at the top of my lungs i bellowed "fuck you" at them. They'd been smiling when I rolled my window down, but that changed quickly.

August 2025 reading month is done! Only 2 x 5* reads but a really great collection of 4 star+ Books.
Top 2 reads of the month were #allthesinnersbleed and #brigandsandbreadknives with a really great mix of other enjoyable reads.

General stats - 28 books read, average rating of 4.01 which is my best reading month to date based on that.

Fave reads - all the sinners bleed, brigands and breadknives, medusa, murderland, percy jackson and the wrath of the triple goddess, the travelling cat Chronicles

Always feel a bit bereft sfter finishing a project especially as 'Mitch Watch' has been such a fun part of the marathoning experience.

which has been serving this community for more than
10 years, was vandalized with hateful graffiti telling us
to "go home."
This is not just paint on the wall - it is blatant
discrimination, and it hurts deeply
