Me too! They live in Arizona, which flips between red/blue and my dad is a fox news addict, which is why we don't talk, at all. They are experiencing first hand exactly what they voted for. Which is infuriating! They're both pushing 80, & I'm going to end up with the brunt of their expenses soon.

I told mom that if there is a god, that they would understand. I'm way not perfect, but I try every day to be better, do better, by me & everyone I care about.

Im an Atheist who believes that love is the answer, to everything. I believe empathy is the single greatest strength we have as a species.

To me, we are already in paradise and death is simply us returning the material that we've been using to experience the universe back to it. The idea of spending "eternity" in any conscious capacity is hell. Mom says to me that I'm a better Christian than every single Christian she knows. 🧵

I was able to get her to understand that I will never, ever believe. Ever. She says I'm breaking her heart, to which I said now you know how I feel...! I think that she finally understands. I think the weed helped here, I really do. She went on about how she looked at things like never before. 🧵

Regardless, mom almost always starts church talk and I almost always just hang up. It wasnt until last night, 40 years later, that she finally listened to me explain what its like to be bombarded with what feels like the most disingenuous, ludicrous shit by someone you love who refuses to listen.🧵

She tells me she's been doing that for years. Apparently my mom & I both have severe ADHD. I was actually diagnosed when I was a teenager in the 80's & subsequently pumped full of Ritalin, which I began spitting out when I was 16. I take edibles to shut off for sleep but it doesn't always work. 🧵

She asks, "...do you think about things a little differently when you take these?" HAHAHAAAA. Yeah, that! I tried to explain that when I go into deep thought it can go good, or it can go very bad. Bad especially when I read the horrible shit going on & I end up catastrophizing & start panicking. 🧵

A few weeks ago I sent my mom some edibles to help her sleep. Born again, conservative, trump voting... Yeah. Apparently things arent going well for mom & dad and we talked on the phone for several hours last night. Apparently the gummies have helped her sleep, better than she had in decades. 🧵

This is a list of some of the oldest companies on the planet. Absolutely fascinating that one of them is nearly 1447 years old, a family business in Japan of Korean descent that builds temples by hand. Mind blowing and inspiring. At my age, legacy and purpose rule.

That is not the first time someone has said that! Squash is astoundingly diverse. My garden was open polinated between Butternut, Seminole, Spaghetti, Tromboncini, and Vining Zucchini so the resulting squash is always fun. I'll be planting some of those seeds just for fun in the spring.

I hope to inspire others into growing their own food! Self reliance type stuff, ya know. My grandma gave me a book from WWII called "Canning for Victory!" They had a massive Victory Garden and an even bigger one in what was a community park turned into a small community farm. It's now a gas station.
