My book 'Serbia: A Modern History', is now out ! The product of 17.5 years of research and writing. Explains in just under 600 pages Serbia's path from Karaฤorฤe's First Serbian Uprising, though independence, the Balkan Wars, World War I and Yugoslav unification up to conquest by Nazi Germany.
3)The republics are with us still, as formally independent states and UN members. Albeit they are not all still defined as republics, and are not all genuinely independent.
2)The establishment of the six republics - Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia - was of more lasting significance than the establishment of the new Yugoslavia. The new Yugoslavia proved transient and disappeared by 1992.
Regarding the anniversary of the Second Session of the Antifascist Council for the People's Liberation of Yugoslavia (AVNOJ) of November 1943, a lot of people are commenting, so I will too: 1) AVNOJ established Tito's new Yugoslavia as a federation of six units, later defined as republics.
It's the selfish baby-boomer ethos: they bitterly resent their tax money being spent on child benefit, or on higher education, because they don't give a damn about the future generations or the future of the country. They're quite happy for Britain to die with them.
Imagine agitating in support of a two-child benefit cap that discourages British people from having children, then complaining about 'great replacement'. These people hate both British children *and* immigrants. I guess they think the work in the country will just do itself.
The true face of the British far-right: its leader gushes over a murderous foreign dictator who hates Britain, while inciting his followers to view wretched migrants as the 'real enemy'. Nigel Farage is a moral idiot.
