First post. In the '90s, I had what might be called one of the original wine blogs. I later started working (2001) and reviewing (2006) wines for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, covering Portugal, Greece, the USA other than the West Coast, and other areas (until June 30, 2023; last day).

Of course, I'm sure you recognize that isn't happening right now because GOP will never go along and Ds have no power.

And because it can't happen right now, good chance we never have an election that gives Dems power again in the near future. 🙂

Next solution?🤔

Well to be clear what makes debating Newsom for 2028 funny is that I don't think there will be anything resembling a real election in 2028.

"WoRK!!"

I wonder what Maynard G. Krebs would have to say about that.😈

2026 possibly the last shot for a generation. We've given disreputable people control of the government. They will do anything. All hands on deck. Or perhaps the streets.

I hear people talking about whether they like Newsom, etc, for 2028. Please. I'm laughing too hard to answer.

Outside of CA, is there any D state with urgency? I know a lot of people thinking '26 is the last shot. GOP is trying to make the elections unfair THEN. What happens in '28? But hey, we don't have to act with urgency. IL is a big state, PA can't help (divided legislature) @govpritzker.illinois.gov

They might have a trial sub, but I can't help with the temptation to buy lots of pricey wines. Been there, done that, in my lawyer days. Ain't ever happening again.😜

P.s. Don't know if you have a subscription, but I did an article on 30s about 5 years back that dived into some of these issues.I'm not really convinced so much by the freshness argument. After all, things like 1941 Kopke--magnificent. Question is: how are yours?

30 v 40 is complicated, not one-size-fits-all. I generally like older, but not everyone has the right stocks, etc. Many will say their 30s are better due to freshness. But that can change on a producer-by-producer basis. And now in Porto, they have even older categories like 50. They've been great.

Violists have long been the whipping boys of the orchestra. "If they were good enough, they'd play violin!"

Huh..I don't actually know them!

I can still not quite even grasp what is going on. There are a lot of questions. Even more than you've raised.

I would say greedy and unprincipled rather than stupid. But you never know!

The media have always been easy to manipulate. Now, many of them are owned by Trump supporters and/or scared of him.

I don't detect much enthusiasm outside of California.

I would add, if Platner wins, he could hold that seat for a generation. No matter what happens, she's at best a one-term senator. Platner excites.

In Mills, at end of her career and at a moment where she described herself as tired, she presents with Collins as two unexciting candidates, same old, same old...Guess who has the advantage under those circumstances? The incumbent.

Change the script. Not doing so is silliness. People want fresh air

What??? Wot?

WTF?

Is it possible to opt-out of this timeline?

i dunno, if I were MAGA I'd be insulted at them saying things so dumb. Because they expect MAGA to be fooled by it, so they must think MAGA is really dumb.

It's kinda like the movie "The Social Network," but substitute Fox News for Twitter and Facebook; and Trump for regular posters at social media sites.

Nothing is ever enough for him. His ego makes the Pacific Ocean looks small. He has always been exceptionally vain about that neck wattle too.

She turns 78 in Dec. She's previously made comments that she was retiring at the end of current term, tired and done. She has served well. She shouldn't be running for a 6-year term.Platner is more energetic,a refreshing change. Too many old relics never disappear these days
