If I just want to paint, say, four of Les Grogs from Wargames Atlantic, or any other collection of duplicate sprues, then I'll grab a sprue second hand.

If I want a single model from a GW set... I tend to wait until all the audience hype has depleted and the prices for singles go down.

Another thing is to get single sprues of stuff that you only want a single sprue of.

If I buy a full boxset, I have to know I'll be happy to paint the whole set, either because they have enough differences to not feel repetitive, or be something I know I'll enjoy dipping into over a period of time.

A personal system I have to avoid this, is that if I want to get a new kit, I make myself go through everything I already have (in part to make sure I don't already have it), and see if I still want it.

If the backlog feels like it's starting to feel intimidating, no new models.

Just received two handsome goblin guards from @rossydoesdrawings.bsky.social 's kickstarter.

The details are incredible and I'm going to do something special with these (maybe a diorama?) and maybe use the card as a banner for the goblin guard.

These are going to be really fun to paint.

Decided to finally play Amnesia: The Bunker today;

Really great horror. Some great usage of teaching you something you should do, and then makes you not do it (or vice versa).

Also, an incredibly tactile system - I know that's something going all the way back to Penumbra, but I really enjoy it.

Love to see giant knights, would be fun to kitbash.

The line "vermiculite layers that protect the wearer against flamethrowers, or a self-contained breathing apparatus that shields the Crusader Knight from gas weapons." does make me wonder how they'll be countered on the tabletop (if added).

The heads from the set are great. I'm using them for nearly every member of my Second Division of Naval Heretics.

The rats I'm actually planning to run as hell hounds for campaigns.

I doubt I'll ever find a use for all the tentacles that come in the box though.

Had a lot of fun trying out some wet blending techniques on this kitbashed grimweird mini.

The body of the mini is from a Vongrim Harpoon Crew as part of the free monthly mini (I think).
The barnacles off cuts from FDM tree supports.
Head is from the Weird War Conversations kit.

Realistically, this would be gluttony rather than greed, but considering how much the two crossover as an emotion, I think that could work.

I have WAY too many projects on the go, especially for Trench Crusade, to approach this any time soon.

I've half remembered a moment from a childhood book of Sinbad, where a bunch of sailors gorge themselves of food and wine.

Thinking to the Knights of Avarice, running an army of pigs for the Wretched could be fun.

This was originally supposed to be an Observer proxy for my Cult of the Possessed inspired Trench Pilgrim warband, but I couldn't bring myself to sculpt over the head as the reposing and rags just gives it such an exhausted and terrified appearance, which is just so evocative.

Hmm, so the Trench Missionaries from WGA are Mormon inspired, eh? That faith has a lot of metal stuff going on in it. This video is probably one of the best expressions of what art actually means to a person and why it is important, more than the minis themselves.

Not a historical arms person, but from my limited perspective you could fill in the holes on the barrel and I think that would clearly read as a shotgun.
