well in her case it was writing circuits which at that point u r not even programming anymore in the common sense of the word. but she was really good at it so I think she gets a pass. I did enjoy her calling C a high level programming language (as it should be!)

everyone seems to be all over the place on what is "high level" and what is "low level" code, but I think as soon as u stop being aware of what is happening on the bit level, u r no longer using the tools that really define what low level is

I dated someone who would still think of that as high tho

I think the preference of the four panel comic over the three panel (the same but missing the second panel) is really about comedic timing. it allows for the context to sink in before something shakes everything up

this limits the creator in some helpful ways. creators are forced to focus more on visual story telling to get information across in a limited format

this format is also popular in japan where it is called yonkoma--which names the four panels ki, shō, ten, ketsu

the four panel comic is foundational to the gag comic format. it gives a predefined structure for easily iterable jokes

panel 1 - establish the context of the joke
pane 2 - develop the premise
panel 3 - unexpected twist (comedy is built on surprise)
panel 4 - punchline (giving a reaction to twist)
