Hidden Food Tours was featured on Radio 4’s The Food Programme last Friday. It was great hosting Sheila Dillon (the doyenne of UK food journalists) on our #MeltonMowbray tour, and brilliant that she got what we do. Have a listen & come see for yourselves! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

MC Hammer was a proper hard core gang banger. Took no shit. #totp

Give him enough acid, he’d consider anything.

JC claims that, each of the three times he was on #totp he wasn’t wearing underpants. Let that sink in.

Interviewed Charli Baltimore when she came over on this trip. Don’t think I’ve thought about her since then. #totp

I was once told that ‘chin chin’ is Japanese slang for ‘small boy’s p*nis’. Not able to verify this, but it’s definitely limited my use of it as a salute.

Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick
A man in a suit stands at a microphone which has been mounted on the roof of a van. There are loudspeakers at his feet, and a building behind him. He has an arm raised, and is flinching as projectiles are hurled at him, because he's a fucking Nazi

It’s extraordinary that Biden’s main weaknesses were inflation and cognitive decline and now America has inflation and cognitive decline as well as tariffs, authoritarianism, blatant corruption, etc

In today’s Guardian over Ratcliffe’s “You can’t run a club like Manchester United on kneejerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week “” comments is actually quite hilarious. Did he mean you Jamie? Yes, he surely did.

Really don’t care what ex-players, bedroom YouTubers, self aggrandising journalists, etc, etc have to say. It’s all about eyeballs and clicks. I follow a few fansites that put everything in proportion, but that’s about it. So to read Jamie Jackson getting his knickers in a twist 2/3

I’m a Manchester United supporter. I’ve worked in sports media, managed some of the biggest football podcasts and been responsible for whole station’s podcast output. But I just can’t be bothered with the incessant drama around football any more. Hardly consume any of the crap that comes with it 1/🧵

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Opinion | In his commitment to creating a show that puts clickbait and ad sales ahead of public service, he is teaching the rest of the media an important lesson. The great fear is that they learn something from it

Why did you feel able to nick the original work of a talented journalist? And why did the BBC let you?

My favourite Jon Lucien track - purely for his brilliant pronunciation of ‘leisure’ as ‘leeeesure’, which totally throws the rhyme scheme all to cock. And he just doesn’t care.

I'm giving away this signed 1st edition h/b of my new novel (it has a tiny jacket rip which means I wouldn't sell it) to one person who reposts this.

You might like it if you like:
Folkloric creatures
Old records
Intricate psychedelic stories
The idea of circular time

All shares much-appreciated.

Pulling up the drawbridge.

Does it? I made radio docs for the BBC for decades, and podcasts for ages as well. I can only think of a couple of times when I heard of people being ripped off (not by me, I stress).

It’s so shit, isn't it? Where in the process did they think ‘fuck it, no one will care/notice if we cut out the guy that actually wrote the book’?
