"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." .and my personal fave, "Let's go and get drunk on light again. It has the power to console."

Hell. Yeah. Dude.

Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Seurat. Vous êtes toujours une source d'inspiration pour nous après tout ce temps.

He once wrote, “I want to make modern people, in their essential traits, move about as they do on those friezes, and place them on canvases organized by harmonies of color."
On the one hand, his extreme and delicate sensibility, on the other, a passion for logical abstraction and an almost mathematical precision of mind, which led him towards varied experimentation in which he ultimately devised his entirely new techniques.
His artistic personality combined qualities that are usually supposed to be opposed and incompatible.
What a beautiful city filled with wonderful people, food, culture, things to see and do. Danke Schoen, Chicagoland.
You may also recognize this as the painting where Cameron Frye has an existential crisis staring at it in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Made a special trip up and absolutely fell in love with it as soon as I laid my eyes on it.
...using his newfangled pointillism, which astounded audiences at the time, and, to be completely honest, having seen it in person, it still does. This thing is gorgeous and MASSIVE at 81 3/4 × 121 1/4 in. (207.5 × 308.1 cm.)
In his best known and largest painting, currently residing at the Art Museum Of Chicago, he depicted people from different social classes strolling and relaxing in a park just west of Paris on La Grande Jatte, an island in the Seine River...
This involves applying small dots or strokes of colour on surfaces that, when viewed from a distance, blend together to create larger and more complex forms with intricate shading and texturing.
Georges Seurat is a famous post-impressionist French artist most popularly known for chromoluminarism and being the "father" of pointillism, a highly systematic and scientific technique based on the hypothesis that closely positioned points mix together in the viewer’s eye.
Pumpkin 14, for my Artist Series this year, I chose A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Georges Seurat (b.1859-d.1891), 1884 - 1886, oil on canvas.

Learn a little every time, and just compete with myself. Forever a student.

Had bigger plans on doing a sweet potato tongue licking his chops, but, I'm fairly new-ish to the 3D game, and overestimated my abilities in the 4 hours I was there, and had to settle with just russet pupil-less eyes ala Evil Dead and a rough carved set of russet teeth.
Did another live carve event in my hometown and decided to take things the spooky route this time.

(also, sax people, don't come for me. I had a 40 year old photato as reference, and I've never held a sax in my life)

To all my wild and free souls who remember the taste of bread, the sound of trees, and the softness of the wind. Without you, this world would be a greige, corporatist hellscape. We all need every last one of you. You are loved and you are seen. This sax is for you, because...

I Still Believe!
This one goes out to all my band homies I've screamed his lyrics with out open car windows at 3am. To all my 80's and 90's babies whose nostalgia runs thicker than their own blood. To all my covens, vampires, and halflings, you beautiful creatures of the night, what sweet music you make.
However, I've never seen the slutty saxophone man Tim Cappello leading the band at the Santa Carla boardwalk in all his slutty saxophone man glory, and to that I say nay.
I've seen more than a few Davids, the occasional Paul, Dwayne, Marko, a Max, a Michael, even a Starr, a ton of hanging onto railroad bridges, and to every last carver of those, they all frigging rule and are formidable in their impressiveness.
Understandably, tons of artists have been inspired by these talkies, and have generated billions of square inches of artfront property, including many pumpkins.
What a brilliantly executed film with the perfect cast set in the perfect place that captured a very specific moment in time that encapsulated the 1980's in a way that was rarely seen before or since.
Rocks in our pockets and gravestones above our heads is all we'll get from this journey.
