“All I want is to live in peace, plant potatoes and dream”. Sadly, however, bills need paid so I’m an arts marketer, amateur singer, slow-but-trying runner & keen cook.

I've just started reading Tom's book Villager and I'm already enjoying it! And his Mum's linoprints are gorgeously atmospheric.
To celebrate the rerelease of my short story collection Help The Witch via @swiftpress.bsky.social I’m giving away TWO signed copies each with a beautiful original linoprints by my mum, from the book (now v rare & worth £40).

To enter you just need to repost this and pop a reply below.
This is exciting! I'm very much enjoying Villager, and your Mum's linoprints are just gorgeous.
That is a doozy of an idea. As long as we don’t have to witness a re-run of Dianne and Max’s Simpsons routine EVER again.
Please feel free to adopt! 😂😂😂
Bit of a music gear change tonight. Fab gig, though fuck me, it was loud (yes, I sound like the 49 year old I am). @solar76.bsky.social reckoned it was the biggest number of balding 45 year old computer programmers dancing together he’s ever seen.
He is referred to as Andrew Pandrew Jandrew amongst my in-laws.
I suspect I would have been in the loving it camp; Taverner’s definitely up my strasse. That sounds gloriously incongruous!
Yeah, it must be quite a challenge. And you had the epic Taverner this summer, didn’t you? That must have been something really special! It must be a very weird life. I suspect we all keep it interesting and worth it.
Ah no! I should have texted you!
It was very lovely, though I think we probably needed about 3 weeks more rehearsal of the Pärt.

Also, your phone has a future career in designing slightly off-kilter greetings cards that would make people buy them to baffle the recipient 😂
Haha, that’s uncanny - good to meet you too! Yeah, we have another concert next week and have many rehearsals. Isn’t he an absolute delight of a human and a chorus director? I am so happy they decided to move!
Oh how amazing to have caught that! I think that’s the only thing that might have made our trip even better. The Centre is incredible; was a really special place to visit and still sort of stays with me.
We are without question the best section - reliable, low drama, gas craic…!
And yeah, people are a bit sniffy about Rutter, but I think there’s always something interesting going on that makes that sniffiness misplaced. We did the Requiem and there’s some lovely stuff in it. And Fauré Pavanne and Cantique de Jean Racine were just dreamy.
I genuinely think it’s a dream choral programme. I mean, I took a holiday this year that was based around going to visit the Arvo Pärt Centre outside Tallinn! We did the Pärt Berliner Mass. The Poulenc Litanies á La Vierge Noire was new to me but is AMAZING (do you know his Stabat mater? Also gorge)
We have neither male altos nor female tenors, though I feel like we could do with some of the latter to shore up our tenor section, which is very wee this season. As a second alto, I could definitely have coped with some of their exposed entries in this concert! Love singing.
I am thrilled - I just didn’t know I could claim it as a gender! I look forward to work’s next diversity questionnaire (I work for an orchestra; they’ll be bewildered). Concert was fab; gorgeous programme of Fauré, Poulenc, Arvo Pärt & John Rutter.
Just back from a choir concert. When explaining how we would get on-stage, the person organising us said we should come on ‘men, then women, then altos’ and thus I seem to be an unexpected new gender.
Bonnie Ann Clyde reminding me a little too strongly of Marian Keyes in Mothertuckers #dragraceUK
Why are they kept a secret for Estonia? WHYYYYYYYY???
(Got a new delivery last week)
"Thrilled to announce the Lonkero order has arrived", accompanied with appropriate image of boxes, as per the standard marketing post.
'Thrilled to announce that I have resisted another cup of coffee, which, while it would have got me through the afternoon, would also have seen me stay awake until Sunday.'

Delighted, excited and thrilled must all be excised. We are rarely, if ever, any of these things.
