I brought a portfolio of posters down with me to show her. As she flipped through them, she said "WOOOOOOW" and "Look how young I was" a whole bunch of times and asked how I had these more than once.

She was incredibly sweet, funny and generous with her time. Couldn't have asked for better.

I feel like one of the luckiest motherfuckers on the planet for having had this event in LA, where I live.

I met so many cool new people, made some new friends and on Thursday, before the first screening, I actually got to meet Meiko.

She signed 2 posters for me and posed for a picture.

We saw some great fuckin' movies, we HEARD HER SING LIVE AND IN PERSON TWICE and we saw her shoot a t-shirt cannon. Insane.

Beyond Fest and American Cinematheque @amcinematheque.bsky.social did a truly outstanding job, and I am incredibly grateful for their work.

For the first 2 nights, I and two friends occupied a table in the Egyptian Theater to share some of my Meiko collection. I wish I would have taken better pictures.

It was pretty incredible connecting with other Kaji fans for those nights. Everyone was so cool and chill! We even got a cosplay!

Want to take a minute to wrap up my thoughts about Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子) being at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles last week.

Meiko did 3 Q&A sessions and 5 of her movies were screened across 3 nights, October 2, 3 and 4.
