The issue is that a portion of Americans believe the president's job is to follow the laws & constitution, administer the govt, while another just a little bit larger portion believes its to injure, scorn, & tweet mean things about the people they dislike.

If the owners or editors at the NYT cared at all about truth or democracy, they would have worked very hard to make sure trump never held power again after January 6. The only reasonable inference is that they want him in power.

For starters, in American politics "conservative" has been a euphemism for white supremacist for my entire life time. There were always plenty of educated clowns providing an intellectual patina, but that's all it was in intent and outcomes.

They've been lying to their audiences and running cover for that asshole for ten years and it has paid off beautifully for them. I wouldn't expect them to change their ways.
