Why do I post a lot about being trans? It's about normalizing us everywhere, including the halls of power. I spent today in the Capitol chatting with university presidents and staffers. I walked with a Senator & talked about our budget priorities. Yesterday I lobbied two GOP staffers.

In this calm after infinite baseball and before football, I just want to note it's National Coming Out Day

It will always be some degree of scary because you're putting your heart on the line, an exposure of your real self without any protective layers of ironic detachment

But it's been worth it.

It does feel like I only post on here when it's a timeline. But it's important to share the changes, not just physically but everything else too. It's hard to even say I'm the same person from before I felt comfortable enough to come out, but I get to be me because of the people who went before me.

It does feel like the timing is horrid, but I occasionally point out that I don't think I would have figured it out without all the jackholes talking about us all the time, making me confront my anger beyond empathy.

The louder that they scream shut trans people, the more of us they wake up.

I think it was back on twitter, but I had a post about buying beer before my legal stuff and how I once broke a Meijer clerk's brain so badly that he bluescreened. The bagger was an MVP and was like "she's good, man"
