Image of a gallows headframe, above a mine, with a powder blue sky, with clouds, in the background. Caption reads: That damned headframe always gave Mike the shakes. It looked like a giant wooden gallows towering over the mineshaft, only eviler, with its cables and hoist, and the illusion of security. A gallows, at least, was honest. With a gallows, you knew exactly when you would die.

Or it’s like a person who earns $50,000 in a year complaining about paying $50 in taxes.
Paul Cogan writes:

A billionaire complaining about paying an extra $1 million in taxes is equivalent to someone worth $100,000 complaining about paying $100. Think about that. The scale of wealth among the 1% is so vast, it's ridiculous that raising their taxes is somehow considered controversial.

Hopefully some of those hours are spent sleeping. But damn, if mine wasn't filled with nightmares of being poisoned by radioactive waste, swallowed by giant snakes and, the absolute worst, being at work and having multiple bosses telling me to do conflicting tasks at the same time.

Today in #LaborHistory 10/12/1892: Pledge of Allegiance was 1st recited by US school #children, without any mention of god. It was not until 1954 that the word “god” was added to it, to ingrain in U.S. children how much superior they were to the godless #communists in the #USSR.
Tweet by Neil deGrasse Tyson. If the Pledge of Allegiance told the truth: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the divided states of America. and to the PACs, for which it stands, one nation, at odds, divisible, with liberty and justice for some.
