To follow up on my previous post, as it’s evident I’ll never get to teach it again at my former institution, I do a really great and wildly popular class on Aztecs, Incas and Mayas (I didn’t create the class or come up with the title, but I made it “mine”).

Completed my first half marathon in 2:22.25. I’m well pleased, it was windy and hilly at times, but I did it. And I loved it. And I raised over £400 for #rspcasuffolk! #ipswichhalf
Now back to job hunting…

But”the media” is mostly complicit in this madness, so why would they call him on this?

I have read Trump’s “war department” EO.

This is nothing. He changed nothing. He added pretend secondary titles with no power under the law.

He will make the government spend hundreds of millions for vanity labeling purposes.

If you’re in the media and you don’t harp on that, you’re failing.

I’ll keep trying until I have to return to the UK

And I don’t really have a relationship with a doctor in the US anymore, so the Rx part isn’t possible

I’ve tried that in Pennsylvania and I still can’t get one

UK based folks: does anyone know of agencies that specifically assist skilled workers or global talent in finding new roles? In the US they’re called headhunting firms, but I don’t know if that’s the right term in the UK? I’d consider Ireland as well

Teaching at a new university for the first time. I'm really excited to "meet" (virtually) my students at University of Louisiana. I've even taught myself Panopto!

Right-o, so I’m teaching the Colonial LatAm survey online for the first time in a few years. I’ve not taught a full semester online class in awhile, so I’m struggling a bit with final assignments. Any suggestions hivemind?

Trying to explain to a Brit why I can’t just up and switch to a better paying job, whilst on a visa in their country, is so goddamned exhausting that I just give up

A good post. I still teach online here and there, but as someone who left a tenured position in the US for the UK, moving abroad to a new academic position is available to a select few, to which the author alludes. UK higher ed is a mess and immigration policies restrictive. No academic post for me!

Getting anything helpful in the UK is always a huge chore and my allergies here are atrocious (weirdly, I was actually prescribed it for panic attacks)
