Signatures are on the outer envelope. No signature on the sleeve so your vote is private. Ballots get taken from the sleeve by another worker and then the ballots go into the count machine. It is part of the privacy of your vote during the count.
Hopefully they can remedy. Sounds like new voters or mail in is new. Those used to voting by mail know the ballot needs to be in the inner sleeve when voting by mail. I monitored a mail in vote one year in Portland OR. It was a thing of beauty.
We will have a great bench in our next primary. I do like Newsom the more I see him though. His interviews are intelligent & thoughtful. No scripts, he's dyslexic. Blows me away how smart he is.
As a historical footnote the first group the Reich went after was the disabled. They mostly couldn't work so they were seen as having no value. Next came the LBGTQ community. They were easy to demonize as other.
If I lived in NY I would be a Mamdani voter. I thought his campaign was brilliant and should be reproduced by Ds country wide. But I think he is going to hit a reality wall when he tries to implement his policies. He's smart. He'll figure it out.
